PHP Code Widget is a WordPress Plugin that adds a new widget type called “PHP Code Widget” to your Available Widgets menu. Its straightforward and user-friendly interface allows you to insert arbitrary PHP code (HTML and javascript too) into your WordPress installation, it’s just like adding a post. It allows you to execute custom PHP code in WordPress Widgets. Now you have full control of your widgets with PHP in its place of shortcodes.

This plugin provides an easy-to-use interface within the WordPress administration area. A WordPress plugin that makes it very easy to execute PHP code in posts, pages, and text widgets. Simply add the widget to your sidebar and enter the desired PHP code. It includes variables exposed by WordPress and you can also define your own. If a PHP function such as print_r() is used in the content, an HTML table will be automatically created for better readability.

You can copy/paste any non-executable text into the widget content editor and it will not be modified in any way. The widget uses WordPress’ internal do_shortcode() function to execute shortcodes from within PHP code. Including this plugin into your theme’s functions file gives you more control over hooks and filters that can be added or removed – all without any extra coding necessary!

The functionality of this plugin is the same as the default WordPress Text widget, but with the ability to execute PHP code. Because this plugin uses output buffering, there are no restrictions on what kind of code can be used in the widget, e.g. normal HTML tags, JavaScript, embedded CSS, and PHP (nested). Nested PHP code will be executed before being sent back in the buffer, so that shouldn’t cause any problems either. Using this plugin will allow you to keep your templates intact so that you won’t lose your changes on the upgrade.
